PROJECT INFORMATION
This project was prepared for my M.A Thesis Project at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
The global wellness tourism industry is projected to account for 15% of all global tourism expenditure by 2022 and in 2017 alone, the wellness accommodation segment accounted for 20.4% of the total wellness tourism industry.
Expectations for wellness hospitality have exceeded far beyond spas and fitness facilities and consumers are paying an average of 53% more than non-wellness travelers to immerse themselves in transformative wellness experiences. As an increasing number of wellness resorts enter the luxury hospitality space and encroach on established luxury hoteliers market share, how can established luxury hoteliers sustain year-over-year growth and capitalize on this trend?
Narrowing the focus to luxury hotelier, Four Seasons, this project proposes that they enter a partnership with yoga and wellness expert, Lululemon, to host The Immersion Yoga + Wellness Retreat. With a competitive wellness offering, the Four Seasons can more effectively appeal to wellness tourism consumers and sustain market share through strategic location and seasonal offerings with the objective of increasing room occupancy during off-season.
